Egg less cake using milk powder

Ingredients
3/4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup milk powder
1/2 cup white butter
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda bi carb
2 tsp. vanilla essence

Method
  1. Sieve plain flour,milk powder, soda and baking powder together
  2. In a bowl beat sugar and butter till light.
  3. Add water and palin flour alternatively whisk. Add essence whisk till incorporated on slow speed.
  4. Put in a lined baking tin and bake at 160 degree in a pre-heated oven for 1/2 hour or till a needle inserted comes out clean.
Ideal cake to be served with ice cream or eaten hot at tea time.
Variation add some tutti frutti to it.

  2. Which of the four steps did you use the milk powder as its in the ingredients list but not in the actual instructions??

    1. milk powder is a dry ingredient so it is used with flour. always remember as a thumb rule for cake making sift all dry ingredients and add to wet ingredients.
      sugar and fat is creamed or whisked to incorporate air and make cake lighter

  3. which measurements have you used .....250ml cup or 200 mlcup

  4. Does diff in use of butter show the diff in color of the cake from inside. Two of my sisters went to the same baking class but one had a whiter cake than the other. I always wonders why the diff but never bothered to ask them. It was 25 years back.
    Hope u can help me find the ans.
    ( I liked the whiter one and it was denser as far as I remember)

    1. yes it will most certainly do ... if u use white butter u will have whiter cake and if u use yellow butter u will get a yellow colored cake. also the use of too much vanilla essence, can change the color.
